The origin of Arulmigu Thendayuthapani Temple, Johor Bahru dates back to the year 1917 when the venerable R.V. Perumal Naidu sanctified the "Holy Vel" on a piece of land in Jalan Kuel to erect a temple for Lord Muruga.

What started as a zinc shed slowly developed into a magnificent temple with the installation of a Moolasthanam and Parivara Theivangal. The first Kumbabishegam was held in 1917, followed by successive Kumbabishegams that cemented its place as the most revered Hindu temple in Johor Bahru.

Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. N.G. Baskaran, the temple underwent complete reconstruction, culminating in the grand Maha Kumbabishegam on 15th November, 1999. Today, the temple stands as a vibrant spiritual and cultural hub for the Hindu community of Johor Bahru.
